Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has further strengthened its audit practice with the appointment of a new partner.

Stuart Diack joins as a partner in the firm’s Audit Quality Directorate to lead the Audit Quality Improvement team. He has spent over 27 years leading the improvement of audit quality, working in a number of senior leadership positions.

The firm said Diack’s experience spans several regulated environments, including the UK, Switzerland, Europe and Southeast Asia. Previously he has spent time in roles with a focus on specialisms including transactions and combinations, international quality leadership, financial crime, anti-money laundering, reputational risk and conflicts management.

At BDO, his role will see him focus on driving consistent high quality and continuous improvement throughout the firm’s growing audit practice. He joins from Deloitte and will be based in London.

Diack said: “As the audit market continues to go through a major period of reform I am excited to be joining a firm with responsible growth, quality and governance at the top of the agenda. BDO’s commitment and investment in people and technology is ongoing, and this continued growth makes it a great time to be joining the firm.

“I look forward to using my experience of both the UK and other regulated markets to make a real difference to BDO, its stakeholders and clients.”

Paul Eagland, managing partner at BDO, added: “It is great to be able to start the new year with yet another announcement of a high-quality partner joining the business. This latest appointment supports the future growth of BDO’s audit practice and our consistent focus on quality and investment in people.”
