Accountancy firm Armstrong Watson has announced a “highly experienced and trusted adviser” has been recognised for her “dedication” with a senior promotion.

Helen Robinson, who leads accountancy services at the firm’s Northallerton office and who has more than 20 years’ experience in the field, has been promoted to accounting director.

Armstrong Watosn said the news comes after a period of “exceptional growth” for the firm, propelled by the acquisition of Eura Audit in Northallerton last February. Despite the pressures of the pandemic, the following 12 months saw further expansion across the north of England as the firm moved into larger premises in West Cumbria and Newcastle before doubling the size of its Hexham practice with the acquisition of Patricia J Arnold and Co last month.

Having started her career at a firm in York in 1997, Robinson joined Armstrong Watson in 2001 and qualified four years later. She rose through the ranks to the position of senior manager before her most recent promotion.

Robinson, who is from Northallerton, works closely with family and owner-managed businesses in a variety of sectors, with the majority of her clients in property and construction sectors. She has “extensive accounts experience” and is also heavily involved in personal and business tax, corporation tax, VAT and payroll.

She said: “I am passionate about my work and supporting clients, particularly through these challenging times. I have an excellent team working alongside me and the firm’s culture means it is a place I enjoy working and feel valued. I am proud to be part of Armstrong Watson and, as director, I want to continue to grow the practice and strengthen relationships and opportunities in the area.”

Simon Turner, Audit and Assurance partner and head of Armstrong Watson’s Northallerton office, said: “Helen has a strong reputation in the Northallerton area having spent many years advising local businesses.

“She takes time to get to know her clients, understands their challenges and works with them to achieve their goals. She builds strong, long-lasting relationships to support growth and help secure the future of businesses through practical and commercial advice.”
