UHY Hacker Young has appointed Richard Stanley as a new tax partner in the group’s Nottingham office.

Stanley joins UHY Nottingham following 20 years as a partner at Midlands accountancy firm Smith Cooper. He has also worked for Grant Thornton and PKF over a career spanning more than 30 years.

He specialises in tax planning for individuals and owner-managed businesses. Throughout his career, he has advised on a range of issues from “company reorganisations, shareholder disputes and inheritance tax through to all aspects of personal tax planning”.

At UHY’s Nottingham office, Stanley will head up the tax team, where he will continue to use his “wealth of expertise to deliver well-structured tax advice that is robust, practical and commercially viable”.

He said: “I’m delighted to be joining UHY Hacker Young in Nottingham and bringing my experience to what is already a great team. I am looking forward to us working together and continuing the firm’s growth and development.”

Andrew Timms, managing partner at UHY Hacker Young’s Nottingham office, added: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Richard to the team. He is one of the most respected people in tax in the region and the breadth of his experience will add enormous value to our tax practice and to our clients.”
