UK tax firm Andersen in the UK has announced the appointment of James Paull, director and head of the Incentives group, to the firm.

Paull will provide specialist advice in respect of the design, implementation and operation of employee incentive arrangements to the firm’s client base of companies, partnerships and individuals, with a particular focus on tax, legal and technical aspects.

Andersen said he has over 20 years’ experience delivering employee incentives advice. He qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and practised with major city law firm, DLA Piper, before moving to PwC where he was a director for 11 years.

He then left to launch and establish a boutique advisory firm, Higham Park Inventives Advisers. He also qualified as a chartered tax adviser in 1999.

Andersen added that Paull has a “particular expertise” in a number of areas, including share incentive plans, deferred compensation arrangements, partnerships, carried interest and co-investment arrangements, employee benefit trusts, corporate tax deductibility of equity and bonus plans, the implications of incentives on corporate transactions, as well as advising management on acquiring and selling equity.

Julian Nelberg, managing partner and head of the Private Client group of Andersen in the United Kingdom, said: “James is an invaluable addition to the team. His extensive experience will be an asset and heighten our capabilities in the UK office. His knowledge of the financial services sector in particular will further enhance our offering to these clients.”

Paull added: “I am delighted to be joining the fast-growing and dynamic team at Andersen in the United Kingdom and look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the firm.”
