Business services firm Cogital Group has confirmed plans to make a “small number” of redundancies across the group.

The London-based group, which owns a number of accountancy firms including Baldwins and Westleton Drake, said it has begun a consultation process with employees that will be affected.

A statement from the group said: “Post a period of acquisition led growth, Cogital confirms it has entered a redundancy consultation process with a small number of employees. Clients will continue to receive the same level of service and team commitment. Cogital is committed to supporting those impacted by the process.”

Earlier this week, Cogital-owned Baldiwns revealed it has expanded its expands North East client base after securing a new contract with IAMCATZ Ltd., which trades as Smart Outdoors.

At the time Brian Logan, consultant at Baldwins Accountancy, said: “IAMCATZ is a perfect example of a business where the Baldwins service really comes into its own.

“We pride ourselves on providing a local, individual led team, but can draw on a national business that has the ability to provide clients with a comprehensive accounting and business advisory service, that ensures they have the structures in place to deliver on their hopes and ambitions.”
