Accountancy firm BHP has appointed Joanne Powell as its new tax partner.

Powell has previously held roles at KPMG and Grant Thorton for over 16 years, and specialised in advising mid-market business on tax. She will be working across BHP’s Cleckheaton and Leeds offices.

She also has experience in tax compliance and tax advisory matters in mergers, acquisitions and insolvency tax.

Commenting on her appointment, Powell said: “I wanted to join an independent firm that was firmly focussed on providing high quality advice to mid-market companies and BHP was the obvious fit.

“I’m really excited to get stuck into my new role and get out and about meeting lots of new businesses.”

Joint managing partner Hamish Morrison added: “Joanne brings with her a wealth of experience and will be a great addition to our growing team. Joanne boosts our tax team to 57, making it one of the largest in the region.

“This is a really exciting time for the business, and we’re delighted that this is shining through and attracting talent like Joanne.”
