The Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) has announced the launch of its new awards event next year.
The professional body will run ‘The IFA Awards’ in 2020, to celebrate industry achievements, highlight leading industry innovation and formally acknowledge professional success.
With its members working within micro- and small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) the IFA has established 10 nominated awards will be submitted to an independent panel of judges.
The award categories are: ‘Micro Practice of the year’, ‘Small Practicing Firm of the year’, ‘Medium Practicing Firm of the year’ and ‘Tax Practice of the year’ recognising the exemplary businesses operating in the sector.
Additionally ,the people who work in the businesses will be recognised with the ‘Rising Star’ award or the ‘Finance Director / CFO of the year’, ‘Finance Team of the year’, ‘Employee of the year’ and ‘Support team of the year’.
The final nominated award, ‘Technology of the year’ will recognise those using technology to best effect in the sector to support clients. There will also be two awards – ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Recognition Award’ – that will be selected/ nominated by the IFA.
The criteria for entering the awards will be simple and straightforward and will only require either a 500-word written entry or one-minute video. Entries open on the 6 January 2020 and close on the 13 March 2020.
John Edwards, CFO of the IFA said: “We want our members to take a short time away from their busy workload to look back and reflect on what they have achieved and to celebrate their successes with us.
“The IFA Awards will act as a performance benchmark, highlighting the way the industry is moving forward and the highly skilled people who are making that happen. We also want to recognise those who are doing well at the peak of their career and those who are the next generation of excellent accountants and practices.”
