The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland has introduced a fast-track pathway for international auditors to gain the UK audit qualification.
The route, approved by the Financial Reporting Council, allows senior members of recognised accountancy bodies to gain membership more quickly.
Candidates are required to complete only UK-specific competencies rather than a full suite of assessments.
Most participants can expect to achieve the qualification within two to three years, depending on their existing experience.
Eligible applicants must be members of their home qualifying body and employed by an authorised training office.
As a recognised qualifying body, ICAS is authorised to award the qualification under the Companies Act.
While the chartered accountant designation does not automatically grant audit rights, those completing the pathway can apply for a practising certificate.
The status allows individuals to undertake statutory audit work within the UK.
Boag said: “This pathway recognises the depth of audit expertise already held by senior international professionals and channels it efficiently into UK practice.
“It reflects ICAS’ commitment to opening a faster, more streamlined route for talented auditors to gain the UK Audit Qualification and play a vital role in upholding audit quality across the UK.”
