Johnston Carmichael Wealth has appointed Leigh Townsley as chartered financial planner, as the firm expands its financial planning services in response to rising demand.

Townsley, who will be based in Glasgow, joins with more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, including 18 years as a qualified planner.

Her new role will focus on areas including retirement planning, estate and wealth management, and financial protection.

She previously spent over 12 years at NFU Mutual, specialising in complex planning for rural and agricultural clients, and has also worked at a top 100 FT Adviser firm delivering independent financial advice.

According to Townsley, Johnston Carmichael Wealth’s chartered status, recent awards and emphasis on people and progression were “key factors” in her decision to join the firm.

The firm’s wealth division now includes 15 financial planners and a wider team of more than 60 professionals.

Townsley’s appointment is part of a strategy to grow the division across Scotland and the wider UK.

Johnston Carmichael Wealth became part of Partners Wealth Management earlier this year, following its acquisition from Johnston Carmichael. The existing team, led by Hendry, has remained in place.

Townsley said: “Clients want to feel heard and supported, and my role is to understand their goals and help them make sense of an often complex landscape. It’s about offering expert advice with empathy and integrity.”

Craig Hendry, managing director of Johnston Carmichael, added: “Leigh’s technical knowledge, commitment to client care and genuine warmth make her a fantastic addition to our team.”
