South West-based accountancy firm AlbertGoodman has appointed Abi Kingsbury and Mark Thomspon as directors to its Taunton headquarters.

Chartered accountant and tax advisor Kingsbury joins Albert Goodman as a director in the Farms and Estates team after eight years with a top 10 UK accountancy firm, amid growing concerns over inheritance tax and succession planning for rural businesses.

Meanwhile, chartered accountant and tax advisor Thompson joins as a director from Albert Goodman’s Business Services team, specialising in property and construction, from family firms to large joint ventures.

Kingsbury and Thompson’s appointment comes as the group reported an annual turnover of £21.4m last year–up 17% on the year before.

Kingsbury said: “This year is certainly a busy time to be joining the AlbertGoodman’s Farms and Estates team, as we look to help our clients navigate unprecedented levels of uncertainty. I’m looking forward to playing my part and utilising my experience as I get to know all of the fantastic businesses we help to support.”

Thompson added: “Albert Goodman has a fantastic reputation as one of the leading accountancy firms in the region. I’m excited to join the BusinessServices team at this stage of my career, and I look forward to contributing to the future success of the organisation.”

Iain McVicar, managing partner at Albert Goodman, concluded: “I’m pleased to welcome Abiand Mark to Albert Goodman and the Taunton team. Both were stand-out candidates, who will bring a huge amount of experience, insights and fresh thinking to the Farms & Estates and Business Services teams. We’re delighted to have them on board as we continue to build on the momentum of a very successful 2024.”
