PKF Smith Cooper has revealed its Business Recovery and Restructuring director Emily Oliver has become a licensed insolvency practitioner.

Oliver joined PKF Smith Cooper 15 years ago as an Insolvency administrator and has since been promoted five times, becoming Business Recovery and Restructuring (BRR) director in 2023, and is based in the firm’s Derby office.

She began her restructuring and recovery career in a small restructuring boutique after graduating university and has since accumulated over a decade of front-line experience dealing with OMB’s. During her career, she has qualified as an ACCA accountant and has also completed the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.

The firm said Oliver has played a “vital role” in the Business Recovery and Restructuring team and her efforts have been notable, assisting clients in securing their future when they are experiencing financial distress. She has supported on several high-profile cases, including the rescue of Belper Leisure Centre.

Oliver said: “I am very thankful for the support I have received from Dean Nelson, head of PKF Smith Cooper Business Recovery and Restructuring team and I look forward to the next step in my restructuring career, continuing to support and advise clients in finding the best possible solution for their business in this difficult trading period.”

Nelson added: “It is great to see our East Midlands presence strengthened, and I am thrilled to see Emily’s dedication and hard work pay off after 15 years of being with the firm, in reaching this pinnacle achievement.”
