The advisory team at PKF Littlejohn has been appointed as liquidator of It’s Okay Limited, following the presentation of a winding up petition by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Stratford Hamilton and James Sleight, who are part of the firm’s advisory team, will be undertaking the liquidation.

This comes after an investigation by the ICO, which resulted in the issuing of a monetary penalty notice (MPN) of £200k.

It’s OK was a nationwide appliance service and repair company who supplied white goods insurance.

During the course of 2019 and 2020, It’s OK engaged in the transmission of 2,578,543 unsolicited direct marketing calls of which 1,752,149 were made to individuals who were registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), in what has been termed a “sustained and exploitative campaign”.

These calls – made over an 11-month period – represented an average of over three calls every minute.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, making live marketing calls to individuals registered with the TPS is prohibited, unless they have explicitly consented to receiving such calls from a specific organisation.

Some complaints received indicated that It’s OK attempted to mislead people about their white goods warranties, encouraging unnecessary payments.

Additionally, investigations have revealed that elderly individuals were specifically targeted with high-pressure sales tactics.
