Deloitte’s North West practice has officially moved into a state-of-the-art home at 100 Embankment in Manchester.
Occupying 65,600 sq ft and split across three upper floors of the nine-storey building, plus the ground floor, the move underlines the firm’s vision for growth in the region, consistent with a hybrid working model.
The new office has numerous “innovative” features to accommodate the firm’s hybrid work model. These include a dedicated client suite, flexible co-working spaces and the “gallery room” – a space designed for showcasing, facilitating workshops and hosting seminars, ensuring the needs of both Deloitte’s colleagues and clients are met.
Team connectivity within the office is boosted with internal staircases and dedicated social spaces. A bespoke wellness room, nursing room and multi-faith room further highlight the firm’s commitment to health and wellbeing.
Sustainability is a “key focus” in the move – 100 Embankment was selected by the firm, in part, based on its sustainability credentials, including having no fossil fuel use on site. The office is also fitted with low carbon products such as carpet made from industrial waste and recycled plastics, and joinery made from local offcut timber and wood dust.
Given the office’s central location, cycle racks and changing facilities are also offered to provide people with commuting flexibility. EV charging points are available in an underground car park with over 95% of Deloitte’s fleet cars now electric.
The office forms part of the regeneration of central Salford, located above Greengate Square and adjacent to Manchester’s Medieval Quarter.
Commenting on the move, Jo Ahmed, North West practice senior partner at Deloitte, said: “Our bold move reinforces Deloitte’s continued commitment to sustainable growth and development in the North West. We have over 1,400 extremely talented people based in the North West and I am proud to welcome each and every one of them, plus our clients and guests to 100 Embankment.
“We listened to our people and designed the new office around how they want to work, focussing on collaboration, connection and innovation. The space incorporates new technology that enables seamless connection between our people and clients wherever they are.”
Gavin Harrison, head of sustainability at Deloitte UK, added: “This is a significant step for Deloitte that underlines our ambitious net zero strategy. Our future work model is based on collaboration and flexibility, balancing hybrid working with meaningful in-person interaction that enables our people to work together in an efficient way.
“We know that providing offices that align with the environmental values of our people, partners and clients is vital. That’s why it’s so important to us that Deloitte is synonymous with delivering market-leading, sustainable workspaces, which place community at the heart of its design.”
