Quantuma expands BVI team with new senior restructuring specialist

He is a chartered accountant with a legal background and his recent experience includes leading the high-profile liquidation of the Mauritian structure of a private equity firm operating in six continents which collapsed following complaints of fraud and racketeering

Cross-border advisory firm Quantuma has strengthened its team in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) with the appointment of Merish Gujadhur as a senior restructuring specialist.

Gujadhur joins Quantuma’s BVI office as an associate director from the Mauritius offices of a Big 4 firm where he spent almost a decade working as a senior member of their Business Recovery Services and Forensics team.

He is a chartered accountant with a legal background and his recent experience includes leading the high-profile liquidation of the Mauritian structure of a private equity firm operating in six continents which collapsed following complaints of fraud and racketeering.

He also led the winding up of a fund structure with an investment constituting one of India’s largest private harbour and seaport management services companies, which culminated in a successful disposal of the investment to one of India’s wealthiest conglomerates.

Merish’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior hires across Quantuma’s international offices, and follows the firm’s appointments of:

  • Forensic Accounting specialist and managing director, Ahmad Chit in the Middle East.
  • Restructuring specialist, head of Caribbean and managing director, Stephen Briscoe in the Caribbean
  • Restructuring expert and managing director, Nigel Smith in the Middle East, and
  • former HSBC Middle East Regional Head of Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey region Lynsey Gregory, who joined as general counsel for Quantuma’s parent company, K3 Capital Group Ltd.

Gujadhur said: “I am delighted to have joined Quantuma in the BVI at such an exciting pivotal moment and am very keen to play a leading role in further developing our range of capabilities across our Caribbean offices. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Cyprus, Mauritius and the UK to deliver brilliant results for our clients and their stakeholders.”

Briscoe added: “I am delighted to welcome Merish to Quantuma. He joins at a pivotal time for the firm, as we continue to deliver our ambitious growth strategy. His cross-border restructuring experience in a range of jurisdictions in Asia and Africa means he is a great addition to our team and will be able to hit the ground running, as we continue to deliver results driven solutions to businesses facing a range of complex cross-border matters.”
