Johnston Carmichael has expanded its Stirling office with the appointment of Roy Hogg as business advisory partner and John Gold as business advisory director.

Hogg will work alongside office head, Craig Clinton, and Gold to further develop the services the firm provides to its clients.

Having previously owned his own accountancy firm that specialised in dental finance, Hogg has also become the firm’s head of Dental, taking over from Roddy Anderson.

Hogg is the Scottish chairman of NASDAL (National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers), working closely with the organisation to promote excellence within the dental sector and provide specialist professional services to practice owners.

He brings over 30 years of experience of advising firms in the sector on compliance and transactional work and this week, hosted an event at Johnston Carmichael’s Edinburgh office to launch the first Scottish version of NASDAL’s annual benchmarking report reflecting the finances of dental practices and dentists for the most recent tax year.

Hogg said: “I feel very fortunate to join Johnston Carmichael, a firm that aligns with both my personal and professional values.

“It is also a source of great pride that I will be working with local businesses to help them flourish. By providing both compliance and advisory services, Johnston Carmichael is well placed to act as a one-stop shop helping trading businesses meet their regulatory requirements while also being proactive in their business and tax affairs.”

He added: “As head of Dental, my goal is to ensure dental professionals have access to trustworthy and accurate advice to support their businesses and to understand how changes in the industry will affect them.”

Meanwhile, Gold joins the firm as business advisory director, bringing over 25 years of experience as a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor. He holds a wide variety of specialisms, with a direct interest in agriculture, professional services and owner managed businesses, providing first rate business commercial advice inclusive of tax planning and compliance.

He will also have a role in delivering the firm’s specialist Rural offering, working with businesses operating in the sector across Scotland.

Gold said: “I am looking forward to collaborating with the wider, highly regarded Stirling team and the rest of my new network of colleagues at Johnston Carmichael. Stirling has a vibrant and expanding community of family and owner managed businesses, which will benefit from both the extensive experience that Roy and I bring to Craig and the team, along with the comprehensive set of services already offered by Johnston Carmichael.”
