Simmons Gainsford has announced it has appointed Rhys Pippard – a consultant, litigator and leader who has specialised in VAT for over 20 years – to the firm as partner.

Pippard is a former HMRC tax inspector who has also spent 10 years in the Big 4 and then several years after that with a top tier City law firm.

He joins Simmons Gainsford to support a wide range of businesses from multinationals to start-ups on how to reach the best VAT position.

Pippard advises on all areas of VAT, especially resolving contentious matters with HMRC. He also frequently advises on the VAT implications of complex land and property transactions, and supports multi-national corporations on cross-border transactions along with all aspects of international trade.

He said: “After 20 years advising widely on VAT, I am delighted to now be joining an entrepreneurial and ambitious firm where my contribution will be valued.

“I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and increasing the level of expert VAT advice that we already provide.”
