BDO has appointed Graeme Hurst as its new life sciences and pharma partner.

Hurst joins the firm’s transaction services team to lead on due diligence within the life sciences and pharma sector.

The firm said he has “extensive” experience in delivering due diligence services to both PE and corporate clients across the sector in the UK and internationally, having previously led the regional pharma and healthcare transaction services team at PwC.

He has also worked as a director for the Transaction Services Talent team, which saw him responsible for driving talent through recruitment, retention, learning and development, and leading future talent strategies and management.

In his new role, Hurst will be working with high growth, innovative, mid-market businesses within the life sciences and pharma sector and will be advising on the regional management of national private equity clients. Graeme will be based in Birmingham and London.

Commenting on his appointment, Hurst said: “Life sciences and pharma is an exciting sector both within the UK and internationally, with significant growth opportunities in the mid-market. I am looking forward to working with businesses to support them throughout their growth journey and help them to achieve their long-term goals alongside the ambitious and dynamic team at BDO.”

Paul Eagland, managing partner at BDO, added: “Businesses within the life sciences and pharma sector and beyond are operating in an increasingly complex regulatory environment, yet we continue to see businesses in the mid-market demonstrate their innovative spirit, often through scientific and technological advances.

“Appointing talented individuals like Graeme is crucial to BDO as we continue to grow our advisory practice. I have no doubt that Graeme’s knowledge and experience will offer new and existing businesses alike the valuable advice required to help them succeed.”
