Westcotts Chartered Accountants has announced the appointment of Sean Bolter as director and Paul Maddock as manager.
The two colleagues joined the firm within months of each other and have since enjoyed working together as part of Westcotts’ advisory team in Plymouth.
Bolter, who oversees a varied portfolio of clients from personal tax clients, small owner managed businesses to larger corporate groups, has worked at Westcotts for nearly eight years. He has a background in accounting in industry and outstanding technical taxation and accounting knowledge.
Regarding his promotion, Bolter said: “In that time, I’ve built up really good relationships with my clients and the people whom I work with, so to have this recognition means a great deal. I’m excited to continue to develop these relationships and look forward to the additional responsibility that directorship will bring.”
Maddock joined Westcotts in 2016 after a career change. He had been working in the hospitality industry but when a leg injury meant he had to take on a temporary administrative role, he decided to retrain to become an accountant.
He said his promotion to manager marks the latest development in what he hopes will be a long and successful career.
Regarding his appointment, Maddock said: “I feel like I’ve moved into a job I can be proud of. I really enjoy dealing with clients. I like to think I’m pretty approachable and I’ve built up a good rapport with many of them as my job has evolved.”
“This is going to sound silly but the industry I was in before could often make you feel like you were just a number. But here everybody knows me, from the top to the bottom. Everyone is so approachable and wants you to do well.”
