The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) has presented 12 accountancy students from universities across Scotland with the 2025 Charles Scott Prize.
The annual prize aims to recognise outstanding academic achievement in accountancy. Each Scottish university offering accountancy programmes selects one recipient, chosen by academic staff for their performance and potential.
Winners each receive £150, as well as formal recognition from ICAS and opportunities to connect with its global chartered accountant community. They will also be profiled across ICAS platforms and offered mentorship.
Gail Boag, executive director of learning at ICAS, said: “The Charles Scott Prize is one of the ways ICAS celebrates academic excellence and recognises the future leaders of our profession. We’re proud to honour these outstanding students from across Scotland and to support their journey into the world of accountancy. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, talent and the success of our university partnerships.”
The 2025 recipients are Szymon Iskierka, Abertay University; Jennifer Whitehead, Edinburgh Napier University; Millie Cooley, Glasgow Caledonian University; Jason Howie, Heriot-Watt University; Monica Gray, Robert Gordon University; Zoe O’Meara, University of Edinburgh; Ella MacLean, University of Aberdeen; Hannah Finlayson, University of Dundee; Ethan McDonald, University of Glasgow; Grace Sellick, University of Stirling; Craig Differ, University of Strathclyde; and Aaron Sweeney, University of the West of Scotland.
The award commemorates Charles Alexander Scott, a chartered accountant who died in 1993, and was established in his name by his wife as a tribute to academic excellence in Scotland.
