Amish Patel has been appointed public sector transport leader for PwC UK as the firm continues to support clients in the sector to deliver national and regional infrastructure, reform and organisational transformation programmes.

Patel, who has been with the firm for over 10 years, specialises in working with transport clients across the globe to deliver operating model transformation programmes, which drive “significant performance and efficiency outcomes”.

Bringing a “wealth” of experience from across the transport sector, Patel also leads PwC’s consulting practice across the UK regions.

He is also a partner sponsor of a pro-bono programme run by PwC to provide representative coaching and mentoring to female and minority ethnic colleagues in the transport industry to support their development and progression in the sector.

Patel said: “Transport has been a passion of mine since my first childhood memories in South Wales of trips to Newport train station to watch the Intercity 125’s roar in and out, so I am incredibly excited and honoured to take this role on.

“The transport industry is undergoing a huge amount of change in pretty much every dimension and the role of transport in being the connective tissue of the UK to drive long term economic growth has never been more important. I look forward to leading our Transport Sector and standing shoulder to shoulder with our clients to drive the most valuable infrastructure, reform and business transformation outcomes.”

Rachel Taylor, Government and health industries leader, added: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Amish to our industry leadership team and the passion he brings to the sector and our clients. Transport and infrastructure are such critical components in the Government’s economic growth priorities and in delivering a successful industrial strategy, we’re committed to continuing to help organisations solve some of the biggest challenges they face.”
