MHA’s corporate finance team has acted as lead adviser to an independent life sciences consultancy and market access specialist on a milestone deal to secure private equity investment.

Newmarket Strategy has announced a growth capital investment from Baird Capital to support its continued growth as an independent leader in pharmaceutical services and healthcare advisory.

Founded in 2021, by Berkeley Greenwood, Ed Jones, and James (Lord) O’Shaughnessy, Newmarket provides deep market access, commercial, and policy expertise to secure reimbursement for health innovations with the power to improve, transform, and save lives.

Newmarket’s client base spans global pharmaceuticals and biotech, med-tech, diagnostics, digital health, private equity, and healthcare services providers.

Jones, chief executive at Newmarket Strategy, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Baird Capital for Newmarket’s next stage of growth. We were hugely impressed by Baird Capital’s team and partnership style, by their proven expertise, and by the commitment they show to our sector. We are immensely proud of the hard work by our team to date, and of the continued faith shown by our valued clients.”

O’Shaughnessy added: “Having advised on the merger transaction which brought Newmarket into existence in 2021, James Lawson and the MHA team acted as trusted advisers to the founders at important moments throughout Newmarket’s evolution.

“MHA provided key strategic input and were hands-on in ensuring we were comprehensively prepared to meet the demands of a private equity fundraising process. We are personally grateful for the team’s dedication which was integral to achieving the objectives set at inception.”

James Lawson, corporate finance partner at MHA, the UK and Ireland member firm of Baker Tilly International, concluded: “Newmarket has developed an enviable reputation in short order which is testament to the team’s hard work. It has been tremendously rewarding to support the founders and advise at key stages of their journey, culminating in this transaction.

“Partnership with Baird Capital will galvanise Newmarket to fulfil its potential to become a market access leader on an international scale, whilst holding true to the team’s mission to deliver better healthcare outcomes for people and communities.”
