UHY Hacker Young has moved to new premises in central Chester as part of its plans for growth.

The new Chester office – now based in Merchants House in Crook Street – will now aim to grow its headcount as part of new strategic plans. The Chester team is recognised for its market-leading expertise in advising both pharmacy businesses and independent financial advisers (IFAs) across the UK.

The office has deep experience in advising academy schools, the transport industry and engineering businesses in the Chester area and the North West. The firm is also well known across the UK for their advisory services to businesses wishing to sell or acquire.

UHY first opened an office in Chester in 1992. Its longstanding support of local businesses has established the firm as the chartered accountant of choice in the area.

The firm is also actively seeking to acquire other accountancy practices in the Chester area as part of its growth strategy.

John Lerston, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young’s Chester office, said: “We’re thrilled to have moved into central Chester to enable the future growth of the business and team. It will allow us to better support both local businesses and our clients nationwide.

“We have a proud history of providing the very best support for pharmacies, IFAs and corporate business throughout the country. We look forward to continuing to support those clients as well as our growing local client base from our new office.”

In addition, the firm appointed Richard Smith as the new director in the Chester office. Smith has worked at the firm for more than four years and specialises in auditing large, medium and smaller sized businesses as well as not-for-profit organisations.

He will also lead the training of team members as the firm looks to expand and will also oversee its internal operations.

Lerston said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Richard into the leadership team of the firm. He has become a pivotal part of our business since he joined us in 2020 and is only going to become more important in the future.”
