Sumer has continued to boost regional growth with the merger of EQ and Douglas Home and Co.

EQ, which currently has offices in Dundee, Forfar and Glenrothes, sold a major stake to Sumer last year, providing the funds to execute an “ambitious” growth plan to triple turnover from £11m to £30m in the next three to five years.

EQ’s merger with Douglas Home and Co. will increase the office count to 10 locations across Scotland and into the North of England, with a combined workforce of 210 employees.

Sumer said that EQ’s merger with Douglas Home and Co. signifies a strategic venture into the Scottish and Northern English markets, “bolstering its extensive network and amplifying its collective impact”.

Warren Mead, CEO of Sumer, said: “At Sumer, we are committed to propelling SMEs to new heights of success by providing unparalleled support and expertise. The merger of EQ and Douglas Home and Co. marks a pivotal milestone, reinforcing our position as a catalyst for innovation and strategic growth. Together, we are poised to unlock opportunities and drive transformative change across Scotland, North England, and beyond.”

Craig Nicol, CEO at EQ Accountants, added: “Embarking on this transformative journey with our merger with Douglas Home and Co. is a testament to our commitment to be progressive and has been inspired by the exceptional efforts of Sumer. This pivotal step not only aligns with our strategic growth plans but also underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and driving excellence.

“From the outset, it was clear that the working style and culture of Douglas Home and Co. seamlessly aligned with ours, bolstering our shared commitment to delivering unparalleled client service. As we unite as one team under the banner of one EQ, we will leverage our collective strengths, share best practices, and unlock new opportunities for our clients, our team members, and our firm as a whole.”
