EY Corporate Finance has advised on EDF Renewables UK&I’s acquisition of SAS Energy, the providers of solar technology for use in the commercial and industrial sectors.

The firm’s partner of energy and infrastructure corporate finance, Louise Shaw, led the advisory on this acquisition, which will strengthen EDF UK’s current position within the industry and will help more businesses become sustainable.

As of Friday 15 September, SAS Energy became a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF Renewables UK, bringing with it a team of 30 solar experts and a portfolio including more than 45 projects in development and construction.

The two companies already have an existing relationship, including the recent completion of an installation of rooftop mounted solar PV at Safran’s Pitstone manufacturing facility.

Shaw said: “EY are delighted to have supported EDF Renewables UK in their acquisition of SAS Energy and wish them all the best on the next stage of its integration and growth. SAS Energy is an exciting business that provides specialist commercial and industrial solar design and installation, as well as EV charging and battery storage solutions.

“This transaction is an important part of the energy landscape in which we have seen significant growth, with businesses increasingly taking an active role in their decarbonisation agenda, as well as addressing energy costs through such installations.”

She added: “This engagement builds upon EY’s experience in the solar and wider energy services sector and is a great example of our commitment to supporting clients in the sustainability agenda.”

With the acquisition complete, EDF Renewables UK is now focused on ensuring that there is a smooth transition while maintaining pace on existing projects.
