Smith and Williamson advises Eames Solicitors on Clark Hill merger

The advisory team was led by Paul Wyse, corporate finance director.

Smith and Williamson has advised Dublin litigation specialists Eames Solicitors in their merger with US-based international law firm Clark Hill as part of the expansion of Clark Hill’s Dublin office.

Clark Hill employs a total of 650 lawyers in the U.S., Mexico and Dublin, where it first opened its office in 2018. It merged with another Irish firm, O’Gradys Solicitors, in 2019.

The Smith and Williamson advisory team was led by Paul Wyse, corporate finance director.

Aidan Eames, managing partner of Eames solicitors, said: “We were delighted to have the advice and support of Smith & Williamson in bringing this important transaction to a successful conclusion.

“We now look forward to joining Clark Hill, an international firm which will deliver broader service offerings for our clients.”

Kirby Tarrant, partner at Clark Hill’s Dublin office, added: “Smith and Williamson has its finger firmly on the pulse of the legal market in Ireland not least through its excellent Annual Survey of Law Firms in Ireland and we are delighted Paul Wyse brought this exciting opportunity to us.”

John Hensien, CEO of Clark Hill PLC, said: “The addition of the Eames Solicitors group to our Dublin office with their deep connections in Ireland is an important strategic step in our overall plan to expand our capabilities in Ireland.

“With the fastest growing economy in the EU, and heightened interest in investment in Ireland from multinational companies resulting from Brexit, Ireland offers a value proposition that is attractive to our US and global corporate clients, reinforcing our commitment to developing a significant presence on the ground.”
