BDO has been appointed auditors of haulage company Wincanton after the company ended its 20-year partnership with KPMG.

The appointment, which comes following a competitive tender, will see KPMG continue in its role as external auditor to Wincanton for the current financial year ending 31 March 2020.

BDO will assume its role as external auditor from the financial year commencing 1 April 2020. BDO will conduct the audit of the company’s financial statements for the financial year ending 31 March 2021.

In an investor update, Wincanton said: “Following the conclusion of a formal competitive tender process, the Board is pleased to propose the appointment of BDO LLP (“BDO”) as its external auditor to take effect from the financial year commencing 1 April 2020.

“BDO will conduct the audit of the company’s financial statements for the financial year ending 31 March 2021. The appointment is subject to approval by shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting of the company, to be held on 25 June 2020.”

Paul Dean, chair of Wincanton’s Audit Committee, said: “We would like to thank KPMG for their many years of service as Wincanton’s auditor. Subject to shareholder approval at the 2020 AGM, we look forward to working with BDO in the future.”
