KPMG UK has announced the appointment of Philip Shields as a managing director to lead the Real Estate Corporate Finance practice.

Shields joins the firm from investment bank Panmure Gordon where he led the Real Estate M&A practice.

He has over 20 years of Real Estate investment banking experience across London, New York, and Sydney, and has advised on numerous transactions spanning both M&A and capital raising assignments.

His recent work includes advising on the £350mLife Sciences REIT IPO. In his new role, he will work as part of both the Corporate Finance and Debt Advisory practices, and with KPMG UK’s wider multi-disciplinary real estate offering.

Shields said: “This is an exciting time to be joining KPMG. The firm has a strong presence in the market and I’m looking forward to connecting and working closely with colleagues in various parts of the business to provide a full service to our clients.”

Andy Pyle, head of Real Estate at KPMG UK, added: “We’re delighted to have Philip as part of the team, and he is a natural fit for helping us grow the work we do in the real estate sector. His extensive M&A experience will further strengthen our real estate offering.”
