UHY Hacker Young has appointed Kevin Edwards as its new R&D tax partner in its London office.

Edwards brings almost 20 years of experience working within R&D tax credits to UHY Hacker Young. He joins from East Midlands firm Duncan and Toplis, having previously worked at Top 15 firms RSM and MHA MacIntyre Hudson.

The firm also said Edwards is a member of HMRC’s R&D Consultative Committee and has presented to the Chartered Institute of Tax on R&D tax credits.

Advising clients on successful R&D tax credit claims is among UHY Hacker Young’s “specialisms”, with teams in both London and Manchester focused on maximising claims.

According to the firm, Edwards advises on “large and complex” R&D tax credit claims in virtually every sector, including construction, pharmaceuticals, engineering, advanced manufacturing, and software.

Edwards said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the London R&D tax team. UHY Hacker Young has a brilliant reputation for helping support innovative businesses successfully secure R&D tax credit applications. I look forward to working with the team to help maximise tax savings for the firm’s clients.”

Subarna Banerjee, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young London, added: “We’re very pleased to welcome Kevin to our tax team. With a track record of securing the most complex and challenging R&D claims through deep technical knowledge, Kevin was an obvious choice to join our team.”
