EY has announced the appointment of 103 new equity partners across the UK, a year-on-year increase of 60%.

The additions include 65 partner promotions and 38 external hires, bringing the firm’s total UK partners to 781.

Of the intake, 32% are women while 18% come from ethnic minority backgrounds, with just one Black partner

The group is aiming to achieve partner rates of 40% female and 20% from ethnic minority backgrounds, with 15% of those partners from an ethnic minority to be Black, by 2025.

Some 20% of the appointments will be based in London, while a significant number are set to serve in Reading, Glasgow, Southampton, and Birmingham in a bid to expand the group’s presence.

Hywel Ball, UK chair at the Big Four firm, said that the appointments “reflect a significant investment” in the group’s people and business as it builds “sustainable long-term growth”.

He added: “While I am pleased with this year’s progress, the representation of women and ethnic minorities in our partner population is not where we want it to be.

“Achieving our diversity goals is key to our future business growth and we are determined to accelerate the pace of change.”
