Robson Laidler has acquired Tindles Chartered Accountants for an undisclosed sum, forming a £9m accountancy group spanning Newcastle, Durham and Teesside.
The acquisition of the Teesside-based firm marks Robson Laidler’s “largest” deal since its founding more than a century ago. It brings the combined group’s turnover to approximately £9m and expands its total headcount to 126.
Robert Tindle, who established Tindles 25 years ago, will remain with the business to support its integration.
The firm will continue trading under its existing name for around six months. Partner Angela Foster will also stay on to lead the business, working alongside Robson Laidler’s co-managing directors Amy Park and Nick Wilson, as well as directors Michael Moran, Peter Charles, John Holbrook and Nick Cunningham.
Additionally, Tindles will continue to operate from its current premises at Medway House in Teesdale Business Park with its 20-strong team.
Legal advisers on the deal included Hay and Kilner and JLF for Robson Laidler, with Punch Robson acting for Tindles.
Nick Wilson, co-managing director, said: “This forms an important part of our overall growth and investment strategy where we aim to open more office locations across our five-year vision.
“Our strategy is to remain independent whilst keeping our purpose at the forefront of everything we do, which is to make a positive difference to people’s lives and that includes our clients, our people and the wider community. Rob and Angela have built a hugely successful business over many years in Teesside and are a fantastic fit in terms of shared values, services and geographically where we want to grow our business.”
Tindle added: “I am delighted to conclude this deal and become part of the Robson Laidler group, which will strengthen our ability to provide the continued excellent high-quality service to our clients and the future of our team.”
