Accountancy and business advisory firm Armstrong Watson has secured an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK to support its expansion across the North of England and Scotland.

The investment will enable the Carlisle-headquartered firm to grow both organically and through acquisitions. It currently operates 19 offices, including in Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Kendal and Glasgow, and employs more than 800 people.

The firm recently acquired a Glasgow-based accountancy practice, extending its advisory services in Scotland. At least four further acquisitions are planned as part of its long-term strategy.

The HSBC UK funding will also support investment in technology, including artificial intelligence and digital systems, aimed at creating a modern working environment and improving collaboration between offices.

Paul Dickson, chief executive and managing partner at Armstrong Watson, said: “Our latest acquisition in Glasgow is a fantastic milestone, and with HSBC UK’s support we’re also embracing the future through digital innovation and further expansion.”

Ben Foster, relationship director at HSBC UK, said: “Our funding will allow them to invest in their people, technology and acquisitions. We’re proud to support their continued evolution as they deliver real impact for clients across the North of England and Scotland.”
