MHA has further strengthened its tax technology team with the appointment of Andrew Fairhurst as director and head of Tax Technology, based in the group’s London office.

Formerly of EY, Fairhurst has over 20 years of experience with a background in both tax and technology.

In his role at EY, Fairhurst was a member of the tax technology and transformation team, responsible for helping clients update and streamline their tax function in line with the latest technology. He began his career at IBM and then moved to KPMG where he trained as a tax adviser.

MHA said Fairhurst’s appointment forms a key part of its rapidly growing tax technology capabilities. His primary role will be to lead and upskill the firm’s team of tax technology experts, which works across the business, internally with partners and externally with clients.

The firm added that his experience will enhance MHA’s ability to help companies upgrade their tax functions and streamline their processes.

Fairhurst said: “It’s an exciting time to be in tax technology. Everyone is taking the subject far more seriously and there’s real appreciation that the right processes or software can lead to major efficiency gains. MHA and Baker Tilly International are at the front of the pack on this and I’m thrilled to be leading the tax technology team.”

Rakesh Shaunak, managing partner and group chairman of MHA, added: “We’re taking our tax technology and transformation service to the next level, in response to growing client interest in, and demand for, support in this area.

“Andrew has a very strong background in both tax and technology and has a keen appreciation of the commercial benefits that come from streamlining tax processes in line with the latest technology, as well as the potential sustainability gains.”
