Minerva Accountants has expanded its offering after acquiring the practice formerly known as Longhill Accounting in Somerset.

Following the move, Della Hudson of Minerva Accountants Bristol and Somerset now leads the combined company.

Hudson, who has been a chartered accountant for 30 years, said she became interested in Longhill due to “shared values and vision”.

She said: “I wanted to expand our offerings and this was an ideal opportunity to do so – as they had similar experience, outlook and values.”

Meanwhile, Chris Thring, who set up Longhill Accounting with his wife Maria, decided to step back from the business to semi-retire and pursue other interests.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed the work for the last 16 years and am essentially part-retiring. I’m confident clients are in good hands, as Della is a very capable accountant and a good fit. Della has considerable experience of running a small practice and understands the needs of small businesses.

“Della is also known to several of my professional contacts and they have given her glowing references.”

Longhill Accounting was set up to support small businesses and trades in industries such as property development, environmental consultancy, construction and retail.

Chris and Maria Thring said they had previously received several offers to acquire the business but had refused on grounds of suitability, until hearing from Hudson.

Maria, who qualified with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in 2000, will continue as accountant and client manager.

Hudson added: “We are delighted Maria has decided to continue in her role. She will be invaluable in the client transition.”
