An assistant audit manager from leading audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK has won ‘Young Accountant of the Year’ at the Leeds Chartered Accountants Student Society dinner.

Chloe Sturdy, assistant audit manager in RSM’s Leeds office, was named as winner after being shortlisted alongside six other candidates for the award. Sturdy impressed the judging panel with her experiences and expertise gained during her career at RSM, including her role as supervisor for the Leeds audit department and her ability to lead large teams across multiple client sectors.

The panel was made up of Lee Sweeney, executive director of Sharp Consultancy, Sarah Smith, CFO of FOD Mobility Group, and Harriet Fowler, manager in transaction services at Deloitte and the previous year’s winner.

In addition to the award, Sturdy has also won a trip to Barcelona and the chance to be on the judging panel next year.

Regarding her award, Sturdy said: “I am honoured to have been named as Young Accountant of the Year and to have the support of all those at RSM throughout my career to this point. The process was hugely rewarding and I look forward to further developing in my career based on what I have learned from the experience.”

Mike Thornton, RSM UK’s office managing partner for Leeds, added: “This award reflects Chloe’s hard work and dedication, and we are all very proud of her. Since joining the firm in 2018, Chloe has excelled in her career – progressing from audit assistant to assistant manager. She has welcomed the opportunity to project manage and lead teams on some of the office’s largest and most complex assignments for our clients in the middle market.

“She is a great leader and alongside her own development, is always happy to support her team and is a brilliant role model. Congratulations on your award Chloe, it is very well deserved!’
