BDO has announced the appointment of Iain Henderson as the next senior partner of BDO following a vote by the firm’s equity partners. He will take office on 1 October 2026.
Henderson succeeds Matthew White, who is completing the maximum term of eight years in the role.
The appointment comes as the professional services sector faces increased regulatory scrutiny regarding audit quality and public trust.
A partner with more than 30 years of experience, Henderson currently serves as the sector lead for the UK firm’s US audit team. He also holds positions on the international board and the oversight board.
In his new capacity, Henderson will chair the oversight board and manage compliance with the audit firm governance code.
He will work alongside the firm’s four independent non-executives to provide an independent challenge to leadership.
Henderson said: “I am honoured to have been elected as BDO’s next Senior Partner. This is a role with a clear purpose – to drive strong governance, ensure robust challenge and oversight, and help maintain a culture where people with the public interest at heart can succeed.”
White added: “The coming years will bring continued change in our market, with evolving regulation, advancements in technology and growing expectations around quality and trust. It has been a privilege to serve as BDO’s Senior Partner for the last eight years. I have every confidence that under Iain’s oversight, the firm, our people and our clients will continue to grow and succeed.”
