The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has introduced further updates to its online continuing professional development (CPD) record, including new evidence options and expanded tracking functions.

Members can now upload emails in .msg and .eml formats as evidence of CPD activities, in addition to existing file types. The record also provides detailed breakdowns of completed hours and minutes, with separate trackers for overall and verifiable CPD.

The new system also highlights unfinished activities and missing evidence, and allows users to review previous CPD years to check for incomplete entries.

To support performance reviews and mentoring, members can now export a full record of CPD activities at the click of a button. The export function generates a zip file containing an Excel spreadsheet and three PDF documents: a full record, a summary and a reflective plan. Each plan automatically displays the last update date and can be downloaded separately.

Andrea Cook, director of specialised and lifelong learning at the ICAEW, said: “These changes are aimed at helping members to spot, ahead of 1 November, where they need to revisit activities to ensure their record is complete for the year.

“We continue to listen to our members and evolve the digital CPD record to help make it as useful as possible. Making these changes we hope will help to support a smooth end to the CPD year.”
