Grant Thornton UK has continued its investment in senior tax talent with the appointment of two new partners. The firm has hired Gil Oglesby to lead on its tax function transformation proposition, supporting clients with their tax technology, data, processes and people.

He was previously head of Direct Tax and Transformation at ASOS, with responsibility for all direct tax compliance and reporting obligations for the group, as well as leading and delivering on all aspects of tax technology and transformation for the tax function.

Meanwhile, Duncan Nott joins the firm as a Transfer Pricing partner. Nott has over 25 years of specialist transfer pricing experience, having worked at both market leading international and mid-market firms. He has worked with a wide range of clients across different industries, as well as supporting government bodies on transfer pricing issues.

He joins the firm’s Transfer Pricing team as part of its growth plans, and will help the firm’s clients find practical solutions to their transfer pricing issues and “set themselves up for a greater focus” on the operation and governance of transfer pricing policy.

Nott is also working as part of Grant Thornton’s network of Pillar Two specialists to help clients find effective ways to address the introduction of the new Global Minimum Tax intended for large multinationals under the OECD’s Pillar Two.

Commenting on the appointments, Hazel Platt, head of Tax at Grant Thornton UK, said: “It is a pleasure to welcome both Gil and Duncan to the firm. They both bring outstanding experience in their respective areas of expertise that will further enhance our market-leading tax offering.

“They are joining the firm at a crucial time for clients as they face a fast-changing tax outlook, both domestically and cross-border. Ensuring firms have the best processes and protocols in place has never been more important. Having Gil and Duncan on our team means we are even better positioned to help our clients meet those challenges.”
