Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has signed a new 10-year lease on a new office at 30 Semple Street.

BDO will move into the 8,176 sq ft space in Autumn this year from its City Point base on Haymarket Terrace.

The office will provide BDO with a modern, collaborative working space, consistent with the firm’s commitment to supporting its agile workforce.

The investment in Edinburgh forms part of BDO’s national property portfolio across 18 UK locations for its 8,000 people.

In 2022, BDO signed a 10-year lease, committing to more than 8,000 sq ft at 2 Atlantic Square Glasgow and now has more than 200 people working in Scotland.

The firm has also moved into new premises in Manchester, Guildford, Nottingham and Ipswich and has undergone major refits in Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton.

Last summer, BDO announced its move to a new 220,000 sq ft London HQ in 2027.

Martin Gill, regional managing partner at BDO in Scotland, said: “BDO is firmly committed to the Scottish market and our investment in new offices is a statement of intent for our business and our belief in the people and businesses based here. We’ve taken more space than we have currently to give us the opportunity to continue to expand our depth and breadth of services.

“With its exceptional design and sustainability credentials, this move will provide the foundations for us to continue investing in Scotland.”

Zoe Gray, director of CBRE Investment Management, added: “We’re delighted to welcome BDO to 30 Semple Street, joining Hymans Robertson and Red Rock Power as the first occupiers of our new flagship development.”
