James Cowper Kreston has announced the appointment of Tom Russell as president of R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.

Russell, who is also the director of the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) team, has served as R3’s vice president since April 2024.

R3 is a leading association for insolvency and restructuring professionals in the UK. Members are qualified, regulated practitioners from across the profession, representing organisations from global legal and accountancy firms to smaller, local practices.

On his appointment, Russell said: “I am honoured and excited to be appointed president of R3. Having served as vice president over the past year, I’ve seen first-hand the vital work R3 does in supporting members and promoting the value and importance of the insolvency and restructuring profession.

“At a time when economic uncertainty continues to challenge businesses and individuals across the UK, our role has never been more important. I look forward to working closely with the R3 team, fellow members and stakeholders across the profession to champion best practices, drive innovation, and ensure that our profession continues to play a key role in helping to navigate financial distress to support and secure economic recovery.”
