Quarter of charities have not reviewed reserves policy, RSM warns

The firm warned this leaves charities at risk of failing to manage financial instability, which is ‘particularly pertinent’ in the current economic climate

More than one in four charities (26%) have not reviewed their reserves policy within the last year, according to new findings from RSM UK.While data from its survey found that 34% of charity trustees had reviewed their reserves policy within the last three months and 40% within the last year, 11% of respondents only reviewed it within the last two years, 6% within the last five years and 9% hadn’t reviewed it at all.
