The accountancy firm Menzies LLP has announced it promoted two of its employees Rachel Lai and Phil Wright to partnership on 1 July 2023.

A licensed insolvency practitioner, Lai joined Menzies LLP in 2015, when the firm merged with Harris Lipman LLP where she had trained. As well as acting as an office holder in formal insolvency proceedings including liquidations, administrations and bankruptcies, Lai advises businesses on how to manage creditor issues and debt recovery. She also leads Menzies LLP Insolvency Team.

Wright joined Menzies LLP in 2006 from university, and began within the firm’s Accounts and Audit team. He helped establish Menzies Outsourced Finance Director (FD) service, which is now a part of the firm’s outsourcing offering. Wright works closely with SMEs, advising them on financial management, reporting, and business planning.

Menzies is a member of HLB International, a global advisory and accounting network, and ranks in the top 10 of the largest audit and consulting organisations in the world.

Simon Massey, managing partner at Menzies LLP, said: “I am delighted to announce that Rachel Lai and Phil Wright have been promoted to the partnership. Both are extremely well deserved and reflect our continued growth as a thriving mid-tier accountancy firm and investment in talent.

“Rachel and Phil have worked their way through the ranks at Menzies and it is particularly satisfying to be able to reward their commitment and achievements as they progress their careers further with the firm. These promotions support our plans for growth and are motivated by a desire to provide high-quality, strategic services for the benefit of our clients.”
