Business and financial advisory firm Grant Thornton UK LLP has promoted James Titheridge to partner within its tax team.

Titheridge will join the team in the Thames Valley and Southampton region, which is a hot spot for multinational businesses thanks to its connections to London, Heathrow and the M4.

He has more than 20 years of tax experience and has worked for the UK firm for the past seven years. He also specialised in international tax while working in Australia for three years.

In his current role, he helps businesses to navigate the complexities of operating in the UK and globally while he regularly chairs tax forums which bring together heads of tax to discuss topical issues facing businesses.

James Titheridge, tax partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, said: “I’m excited to be appointed as a partner and continue the great work we are doing as a team. I enjoy the diversity of tax and the variety of businesses that we work with, and our broad expertise puts us in a strong position to help those businesses who are looking to grow internationally.”

Norman Armstrong, practice leader for Grant Thornton in the Thames Valley and Southampton, added: “James is a tremendous example to our younger recruits of what can be achieved at Grant Thornton and he contributes to our inclusive culture through his support and encouragement of others with their ideas.

“His role as chair of our senior tax forums also greatly complements the important work he does within the sector and with his wealth of experience we’re thrilled to appoint him to the partner team. We know he will strive to bring the team to greater heights within a crucial region for multinational businesses.”

His promotion comes at a busy time for the team, with the completion of financial year ends and helping businesses get to grips with international changes and new rules coming in 2024.

Dominic Preston, head of tax for large corporate and multinational at Grant Thornton, commented: “Today’s tax landscape is a complex, evolving area and James’ expertise here makes him ideally placed to support multinational businesses with key growth plans and helping them to unlock their international goals.”
