Dodd and Co Chartered Accountants has appointed Stuart Bell as partner within the firm, with effect from 1 January 2023.
Bell joined Dodd and Co in 2011 as a trainee accountant after a knee injury forced him to retire early from his career as a professional footballer at Carlisle United. He then studied for his ACCA qualification with Dodds before doing a conversion course to complete his Chartered Accountancy qualification.
Bell has a wide range of clients and specialises in the hospitality and construction sectors. He also heads up the firm’s digital systems team and helps clients implement technology advancements in their businesses.
In addition, he has experience in buying and selling businesses and regularly assists clients with bespoke advice and planning at this critical time in their business life.
In his new role he will split his time across both the Carlisle and Penrith offices.
Bell said: “I am over the moon to be offered this new opportunity and I am really looking forward to continuing to build long standing relationships with clients, something which is really important at Dodds.
“Seeing a client’s business develop over the years and helping them with their long term plans, whether that be to expand and grow, or to begin to think about succession plans and selling up to move on to another venture or into retirement is so rewarding.”
Partner Alison Johnston added: “We are delighted to welcome Stuart into the partnership and we are excited to see him continue to drive the introduction of new technologies into both our clients’ businesses and our own.
“The last few years have seen huge developments in this area with the introduction of making tax digital and other government initiatives and Stuart has been a key part of ensuring we stay at the forefront of these changes.”
