Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has continued the expansion of its Taxand Executive Compensation Services team in London with the appointment of its third managing director, James Harris.

Harris brings 20 years of experience in advising company boards on all aspects of executive remuneration strategy, design and implementation.

Prior to joining A&M, he was as a senior director in Deloitte’s executive compensation practice where he worked with some of the largest FTSE 100 and fast-growing FTSE 250 companies on a pan-sectoral basis.

His experience includes advising UK listed companies on the development of remuneration policies, pay benchmarking and shareholder engagement.

The firm said the latest hire further strengthens A&M’s Taxand Executive Compensation team and demonstrates “the firm’s intent to scale its services in the UK”.

Harris becomes the team’s third MD, primarily responsible for advising board remuneration committees of FTSE listed companies. The practice is also planning on complimenting his appointment with a number of additional hires to further expand the team.

Harris said: “I’m excited to be joining a strong team of advisers at A&M and will draw upon my experience with some of the UK’s largest listed companies to further strengthen the executive compensation offering. I look forward to supporting A&M’s growing list of clients, free from the audit conflicts that hamper other firms.”

Head of the UK Executive Compensation practice and MD at Alvarez and Marsal Taxand, David Tuch, said: “James’s appointment exemplifies our growth ambitions and is a key milestone for the Executive Compensation team as we develop our services in the UK.

“His vast experience in advising the remuneration committees of UK listed companies of all sizes on all aspects of their remuneration strategy will prove invaluable in helping our clients retain talent as they navigate through the challenging macroeconomic environment that lies ahead.”
