EY Private adds four new partners

As well as the new partner appointments, EY Private announced 20 additional internal promotions to director and senior manager roles

EY Private has announced the appointment of four new partners to its team as it looks to continue its “long-term investment” into its private portfolio.

The ‘Big Four’ firm confirmed Carol Hipwell, Lucy Townsend and Steve Butler have all been appointed as Private Client Services partner and Mike Reade has also been named as EY Private – Management Taxes and Transactions partner.

Hipwell has over 30 years’ experience in guiding individuals and families in all aspects of US tax and assists individuals who have fallen behind in their tax compliance or learned of obligations only recently.

Townsend is a US and UK tax advisor, helping individuals navigate the complex tax systems in both jurisdictions and the interaction between them.

The firm added she has “extensive knowledge” of the tax reporting regulations and requirements on both sides, and how to utilise the US-UK Double Tax Treaty where necessary.

In addition, Reade has been with EY for over 11 years and was most recently director for Transaction tax.

Finally, Butler has worked “extensively” with US and UK businesses operating in both US and UK, and private equity and asset management operations. He also sits on the Tax Technical Team within EY Frank Hirth, whose primary role is to provide technical support to the wider firm.

As well as the new partner appointments, EY Private announced 20 additional internal promotions to director and senior manager roles.

Victoria Price, EY Private Client Services leader, said: “It’s very rewarding to see homegrown talent enter the Partnership, and really demonstrates EY’s investment in developing its people. This a fantastic achievement for our colleagues and signals the continued growth and investment in top talent within the EY Private team.

“By continually strengthening our senior team, we are enhancing our ability to provide comprehensive and trusted advice to help solve clients’ most complex problems. These new additions bring a depth of knowledge and valuable experience to our business.”

The EY Private technical tax team now numbers over 300 people, including 36 partners.
