RSM appoints tax disputes partner

Taylor joins RSM from PwC, where he spent 19 years advising corporates, high net worth individuals and partnerships

RSM UK has appointed Matt Taylor as tax disputes partner within its private client team in London.

Taylor has over 25 years’ experience helping clients resolve their tax disputes with HMRC. He joins RSM from PwC, where he spent 19 years advising corporates, high net worth individuals and partnerships.

His specialisms include the taxation of UK and international sports professionals and entertainers, advising on HMRC enquiry powers and procedures, as well as image rights arrangements.

Taylor said: “I’m proud to be leading the delivery of our service offering to clients and intermediaries in London and the South at a time when successfully managing your relationship with HMRC has never been more important.

“HMRC’s powers have increased over time and there’s more onus on taxpayers to tell HMRC about inaccuracies and errors, so having someone to facilitate this can make a huge difference. The firm’s focus and investment in this area is one of the main reasons that I was drawn to RSM.”

Andrew Walker, partner and head of the tax disputes team at RSM UK, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Matt to RSM, where we have experienced and dedicated tax disputes teams in the tax market. Bringing someone with Matt’s expertise onboard will allow us to continue supporting our existing clients in their dealings with HMRC but also expand into the intermediary market who often require the tax disputes skillset that we’re able to offer.”
