BDO appoints two new partners

Both Geeta Joshi and Bernd Kremp join from EY and will be based in London

BDO has appointed Geeta Joshi and Bernd Kremp as new partners within the firm as it continues to invest in its people and growth. Both join from EY and will be based in London.

Joshi joins as an audit partner in the firm’s financial services team. She has over 20 years’ experience in public practice with extensive audit and assurance experience serving the financial services sector.

According to BDO, she previously specialised in auditing and advising on changes to financial and regulatory reporting in the insurance industry. Her expertise includes IFRS 17 changes, solvency II, due diligence, transaction accounting and financial reporting. Her role at BDO will reportedly see her specialise in the insurance sector and continue her focus on IFRS 17, life insurers and audit quality.

Meanwhile, Kremp joins as a partner in the BDO’s technical standards group (TSG). His previous roles have seen him focus on technical accounting with a focus on IFRS. BDO said his experience is “wide-ranging” and includes advising and supporting teams around complex technical accounting issues and preparing and performing financial reporting training.

Kremp also specialises in writing materials on financial reporting matters and technical reviews of annual reports of FTSE 350 and SEC registered companies to ensure overall compliance with IFRS and company act requirements, as well as best practice financial reporting. His role at BDO will see him continue this focus on financial reporting.

Paul Eagland, managing partner at BDO, said: “Quality remains a priority at BDO and these appointments are a reflection of our continued investment and commitment to providing work of the highest standard.

“Financial reporting has become increasingly complex and keeping up to date with changing accounting standards can be challenging for businesses across all sectors, particularly those that are highly regulated such as financial services and insurance. Geeta and Bernd both bring a huge amount of technical knowledge and experience, they will be great additions to BDO.”
