EY unveils three new private equity partners

Jason Spencer, Naveen Tiwari and Peter Renon have all joined EY’s Transaction Strategy and Execution (TS&E) team, which is based in London

EY has announced the appointment of three new private equity (PE) partners as it continues to invest in growth in this area.

Jason Spencer, Naveen Tiwari and Peter Renon have all joined EY’s Transaction Strategy and Execution (TS&E) team, which is based in London.

Spencer will lead EY’s TS&E London-based Technology Pre-Deal Advisory team. He brings 25 years’ experience advising PE and corporate clients. Prior to joining EY, Spencer was managing director (Private Equity Performance Improvement) at Alvarez and Marsal. He specialises in the TMT and tech-enabled financial services sectors.

Tiwari also joins the TS&E team as a partner, bringing 20 years’ experience in advising corporates, PE and lending banks. He has worked on over 250 transactions across the UK, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining EY UK, Tiwari was the founding partner of TS&E in EY India, building it into a 60-member practice.

Finally, Renon brings over 17 years’ experience of mergers and acquisitions across various industries and specialises in finding innovative commercial, operational, and technical solutions to separating software and tech-platform businesses.

In his new role, he will be focused on driving value creation during complex carve-out transactions. He previously worked as a senior director in Alvarez and Marsal’s PE advisory team.

Fredrik Burger, partner, Private Equity in EY’s Transaction Strategy and Execution team, said: “I am thrilled to welcome Jason, Naveen and Peter to the team to further continue our growth in supporting PE clients on Operational and Technology topics. The post-pandemic period has brought both challenges and opportunities for PE firms.

“The investment decisions they make over the next 12 months will be fundamental for both the sector and the wider economy, transforming businesses and creating sustainable, long-term value. By investing in our talent, EY is ensuring it will continue to deliver Operational and Technology insight our clients need to achieve strong outcomes.”

The appointments follow the news of a $1bn (£819m) investment phased over four years to expand EY’s PE capabilities. It has appointed Bridget Walsh as new EY Global Private Equity leader, effective 1 July 2022, to lead and deliver this initiative.
