Haines Watts strengthens not-for-profit team

The specialists collectively bring over four decades of not-for-profit experience and come as the firm looks to strengthen its support for the sector

Haines Watts has bolstered its not-for-profit team with a trio of senior appointments across audit, tax and VAT in the North East.

The specialists collectively bring over four decades of not-for-profit experience and come as the firm looks to strengthen its support for the sector, which it said “continues to face a multitude of challenges as a consequence of the pandemic”.

Craig Henderson and Louise Cottam join the team as associate partners, having previously worked with both not-for-profit and public sector clients. Henderson will lead on charity audits and independent examinations, while Cottam is an expert in not-for-profit tax.

Speaking on his new role, Henderson said: “I’d heard great things about the people and culture at Haines Watts, and it was a team that I really wanted to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to helping the business grow and working with some really worthwhile causes across the region.”

Meanwhile, Faye Birtwisle also joins Haines Watts as a senior VAT Manager, having worked at a Big Four firm for the last 15 years.

Commenting on her first few weeks at Haines Watts, Birtwisle said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first few weeks, everyone has been really friendly and it’s been lovely to get to know people from the wider Haines Watts network and speak to a new set of clients.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with charities and other not-for-profit organisations, as they play such an important role in local communities. This fits in really well with Haines Watts’ client base as I’ve already been involved in a number of projects for local North East not-for-profit organisations and am looking forward to playing my part in helping to further support these clients.”

Managing partner Donna Bulmer said: “I’m delighted to welcome more great people to our not-for-profit team. Over the last year we’ve welcomed more charity and not- for-profit clients to Haines Watts, as well as continuing to support our long standing clients. Craig, Louise and Faye’s specialisms will be invaluable when it comes to supporting our clients in the months and years ahead.”
