Accountancy and business advisory firm, MHA Moore and Smalley, has announced the appointment of Michael Court as its new senior tax manager at the firm’s Liverpool office.

In his new role, Court will advise businesses, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals, supporting them to manage their tax affairs, including family wealth succession planning.

He joins MHA Moore and Smalley from Jackson Stephen where he spent two years as senior tax manager. Additionally, he spent six years at Grant Thornton in Liverpool prior to this.

Additionally, Court is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians.

The announcement marks the second senior tax appointment at MHA Moore and Smalley’s Liverpool office in several months, following the firm’s recruitment of Tony Reddin as tax partner in April.

Reddin said: “We’re seeing continued growth in demand for high-level tax expertise from businesses and their owners across the Merseyside region.

“Michael is adept at guiding clients through the complexities of the UK tax system. He is particularly experienced in helping business owners look after their personal tax affairs, ensuring they can continue to focus on business growth while looking after their succession planning.”

Court added: “Every day I see great examples of entrepreneurial Liverpool businesses growing through innovation, determination and sheer hard work. I’m looking forward to working with the owners of these businesses in my new role with MHA Moore and Smalley, helping them to continue creating jobs and promoting economic activity.”

MHA Moore and Smalley’s new Liverpool office opened in 2021 and is situated in Exchange Station, Tithebarn Street.
